Thanks so much for coming to Fargo to meet with the Dynamics GP team.  It was great to meet you in person, Farm Manager appears very solid and quite “cool” for a person who grew up on a farm myself!

Q1 What is the purpose of the Mixes & Pre-Packs?

A1 Mixes allow you to assign the weight of each variety of produce that go into make a mix in a sealed packet and pre-packs are anything that is put into packets and these packets are put into a carton/box which, in turn go onto a pallet.

Q2 What are Encoding & Encoding schemes?

A2 This allows you to encode the information such as dates and batch numbers on the pallet, crate and bin labels.

Q3 What are customer groups and vendor codes for?

A3 This allows you to enter the vendor number assigned to you by customers or groups of customers so that it is displayed on invoices.

Q4 What are worker teams used for?                                                           Back to top

A4 If you do not wish to enter individuals performing tasks such as picking or packing, then you can create a team and assign it an hourly rate that is equivalent to the rate of pay for all the individuals on the team.

Q5 Can Farm Manager track my Chep Bins so that I know which grower has them?

A5 Farm Manager has a Bin Issuance screen which lets you assign bins to growers, the bins are then returned to stock when you receive produce in a Chep bin from the grower.

Q6 Can I move items off a pallet and put them on a new pallet or an existing pallet?

A6 You can use the Pallet building function to do this and then create new pallet labels.

Q7 Can I add the same type of arrival produce from different crops or days to a production run?

A7 Farm Manager allows you to do this but we do not recommend it as traceability will become compromised. The preferred method is to create a new production run for the new crop arrivals.

Q8 Can I quality test me packed produce?

A8 You can test traded units of produce against defined criteria at any interval for any packer.

Q9 Can I purchase inventory and receive all or part of the order?

A9 Farm Manager allows you to create purchase orders to be sent to suppliers and then receive part or all inventories against those orders. Inventory received is automatically added to stock.

Q10 Does Farm Manager generate Invoices and Transport dockets for sales?

A10 Farm Manager creates invoices after consigning your produce to a sales order and transport dockets after creating shipments for the consigned orders.

Q11 Does Farm Manager account for inventory consumed in the packhouse?

A11 Inventory gets consumed automatically based on the packaging quantities you assign to traded units.

Q12 Does Farm Manager track all of my produce weights?                        Back to top

A12 Farm Manager lets you weigh each bin of produce or enter a total weight for a number of bins of produce when you receive them. If you do not enter any weights then Farm Manager uses the default weight of a bin of that variety of produce. The same applies to traded units of produce, in all cases you will get a net and gross weight which is automatically calculated by deducting the bin or packaging weight from the gross.

Q13 Does Farm Manager allow me to sell by the Kg?

A13 Yes you can sell any traded unit type by the kg.

Q14 Can I buy packed produce from another packhouse?

A14 Yes you can buy packed produce from another packhouse but you will need to add it to a production run and make a new pallet from it.

Q15 Can I track customer payments in Farm Manager?

A15 Farm Manager has a customer payments form which allows you to enter types of payments against outstanding sales orders.

Q16 Does Farm Manager cater for transport fees and levies?

A16 Yes, Farm Managers transport costing is very flexible and allows you to specify transport costs based on traded unit, customer, Transport Company or grower. Levies can be created based on state, organisation, traded unit and charge type.

Q17 Is waste captured in Farm Manager?

A17 Farm Manager allows you to record arrival waste and production run waste so that you can report on shrinkage.

Q18 Can I grade my produce into bins for packing at a later date?

A18 You can make a grading run where you add bins of produce to the run as per normal and then make graded stock from it. This graded stock is then available, like any other stock arrivals, for adding to a production run for packing at a later date.

Q19 Can I run more than 1 packing line at the same time?                        Back to top

A19 Farm Manager lets you have as many physical or virtual packing lines (production lines) as you want and pallet can be made from each line concurrently.
